If you want you can install TWiLight on the flashcard or you can just keep the normal kernel and use it like on the DS Lite, you'll just need Unlaunch installed if the DSi is on 1.4.5 since the Acekard 2.1 was blocked. Also, nds-bootstrap, used by TWLMenu++ to load old homebrew, already DLDI-patches those homebrew to read from the SD card. If you want to play videos on your DSi, use the Rocket Video Player. For music, use the Nintendo DSi Sound app.
