It will also shut off at that point. The ACC is good, but make sure you have the distance setting for the vehicle in front of you. Too short in fast traffic, you could face a fugly mess.

You should be able to turn off adaptive cruise control and use regular cruise with eyesight disabled. Press the cruise control button as normal, press and hold the button that decreases distance for a couple of seconds, it should make an audible noise but 2 or 3 seconds should be sufficient.
